On April 30, 2002 the Legislature submitted its proposed Senate and Assembly redistricting plans to the U.S. Justice Department for preclearance under Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, as amended in 1982. Copies of the submission, including the Legislature’s written supporting memorandum, exhibits that accompany it, and several volumes of appendices will be available for public inspection at:
