Census 2000 Redistricting Data (Public Law 94 — 171) Summary File

These files contain population figures for all levels of geography down to the block level.

Because of size, the Census 2000 Redistricting Data (PL 94-171) have been broken up into 3 physical files, as follows:

Table 1 contains data broken down by Race (for total population). Table 2 contains data broken down by Hispanic/Not Hispanic (for total population). Table 3 contains data broken down by Race (for population 18+). Table 4 contains data broken down by Hispanic/Not Hispanic (for population 18+).

A unique logical record number (LOGRECNO in the geographic header) is assigned to all files for a specific geographic entity. This is done so all records for that specific entity can be linked together across files.

Census TIGER Data

(NOTE: The Census Bureau is providing the TIGER/Line files in ASCII text format only and the data are not in the form of map images. To create maps with the TIGER/Line files, one would typically use a Geographic Information System (GIS) package or other maping software.)

These files include the TIGER/Line Redistricting Census 2000 data files for New York State with technical documentation. The NYS Task Force on Reapportionment has included additional text files that indicate situations where the Task Force database does not agree with the attribute information in the TIGER/Line files. Difference files that show these instances can be downloaded from here as well using the link found under the list of counties.

Vote and Enrollment Data

These files include New York State's local Boards of Election at the Task Force defined VTD level for 1996, 1998 and 2000 elections.

Assignment Lists

These files include individual district assignment lists.
